Hank Idsinga
Inspector Hank Idsinga has been a member of the Toronto Police Service for 30 years, the last 14 of which have been spent as a homicide investigator.

At the beginning of his career he served the communities of 14 and 52 Divisions, two of the busiest in the city. During this time he not only learned the value of engaging with the public but he was also provided with the opportunity to develop his investigative skills. 

As an experienced homicide investigator, Hank has been recognized twice with the Ontario Homicide Investigators Association “Mike Matthews” Award, given annually to the officer who displays courage, tenacity and compassion in their work. He is also the recipient of the “Ontario Major Case Management” Award for outstanding innovation and achievement in homicide case management. Hank is best known for successfully securing First Degree Murder convictions in the complex cases of R v Mark Moore (four counts) and R v Bruce McArthur (eight counts). 

Well-respected by colleagues and victims’ families Hank now proudly serves the Toronto Police Service has the Unit Commander of Homicide, leading 60 investigators with his trademark quiet confidence and professionalism. When he is not pursuing justice for the most egregious of crimes, Hank is an avid cyclist and family man.
