Gabrielle began her career as a police officer in 1999 when she joined New South Wales Police, working general duties on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. In 2002 she relocated 880 kilometres south into Victoria where she joined Victoria Police. Working in regional and rural locations she started to engage with the LGBT community. From 2008 she was appointed to the position as the only full time LGBTI Liaison Officer in Victoria Police. Working in Melbourne, and covering a large area within the state of Victoria, she has been a leader in working to break down barriers and improve the relationship between police and the LGBTI community. From 2009 she has co-hosted a highly rated weekly radio program on Joy 94.9 (Australia’s only LGBTI radio station) where, with community representatives and a variety of police guests, they discuss policing issues which affect Victoria’s diverse community. She also has a lead role in mentoring and training police and recruiting members into the LGBTI Liaison Officer role. In 2017 she was the recipient of the Police Annual Multicultural Award for her work with LGBTI identifying people from diverse multicultural backgrounds.
