I worked as a Correctional Officer in the early 80’s, I was outed the mid 80’s which was a very tumultuous time. I subsequently left Corrections and I began my career with the Toronto Police Service in 1993 as an “Out” LGBTQ member.
I have a Diploma in Corrections, Instructors Certificate from Ottawa, BA in Justice Studies from Guelph Humber, Certificates in Aboriginal Studies from Ryerson University and the University of Alberta.
I was invited to be an instructor at CO Bick College teaching Police and Diversity in the late 90’s, I worked in partnership with LGBTQ , Elder abuse, Aboriginal and mental health educators, which subsequently lead to working with at risk youth with the Toronto District and Catholic school boards as an LGBTQ speaker.
I was promoted to Supervisor in 2004. I am currently a Liaison Supervisor at Old City Hall Court house.
Having been at the front of the Pride Parade as an Amazon Motorcyclist for years over 15yrs, I decided to participate with the Toronto Police Service and support other LGBTQ officers.
As one of the executive members of the LGBTQ Internal Support Network I have assisted and provided moral support to LGBTQ members of the Toronto Police Service, who are out/in, as well as, Ally’s by providing on going advice and guidance with personal and work place integration, as well as, preparation for advancement.
